ACTIVE CONTROL OF VERTICAL ACCELERATION WITH T-FOIL AND TRIM TAB SYSTEMS IN A FAST FERRY

This study is concerned with the active T-foil placed near bow on keel line of fast ferry and two trim tab controls at stern to improve maritime performance a ferry, whilst improving comfort safety passengers crew. In scope study, vertical direction under random head waves, heave pitch motions were taken into account. For control Tabs, PID LQR methods used. The purpose these controllers reduce acceleration by changing operating angles wings. A wave model was created using Pierson-Moskowitz model, simulations done assuming that subjected waves. Finally, in order see effect passengers, rate seasickness (MSI) change uncontrolled controlled states examined. Mathematical models their carried out MATLAB / Simulink environment. simulation results show Active systems can effectively motions.
